This training jacket for men runs a full size range from M down to 5XS, which covers a senior player and a junior on the same page. Training jacket sizes, measured not guessed

These letters do not behave like Pakistani sizing. An XS here measures a 40 inch chest, which several local labels would sell as a small. Read the numbers, not the label. Chest is taken across the closed jacket underarm to underarm and doubled. Length runs from the high shoulder point to the hem. Every figure was read off the garments themselves with a tape.

Allow two to three inches over your own chest measurement for room over a training shirt. The four smallest sizes are the junior grades, used in place of age bands because two players born the same year can be three sizes apart. Lay a jacket already in the wardrobe flat and compare rather than guessing.

Who wears it

Badminton first, because a loose jacket flaps on the overhead and rides up the forearm between rallies. The same cut works for table tennis, padel, squash and tennis, for cricket practice through the cold months, and for gym sessions. The raglan sleeve runs in one line from collar to underarm, so it comes on and off quickly, which matters most to a junior taking it off a dozen times a session. Cut for men and boys, and the smaller sizes fit women who want more body length than most women’s activewear gives.

Fabric and finish

A smooth technical knit, flat on both faces with no brushed pile inside, so the jacket stays light and sheds damp faster than a cotton sweatshirt. That is what makes it a year-round layer rather than a winter-only one, light enough to pull on after training in an air-conditioned hall in June and warm enough over a shirt in January. Both pocket zips run the full length of the pocket mouth. Cuffs and hem are knitted rib, not elastic tape. Cold machine wash inside out with the zip closed, no softener, no tumble dryer, hang to dry so the ribbing holds shape, and keep the iron away from the chest print.
